BTE:
Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids are well suited for hearing loss cases ranging from a mild to profound hearing loss. BTE hearing aid components are typically contained in a small, slim case worn behind the ear. The amplified sound from the hearing aid is conducted through a plastic ear mold worn in the ear.
ITE:
In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids are suitable for hearing loss cases ranging from a mild to severe hearing loss. ITE hearing aid components are typically contained in an acrylic shell and fit within the outer ear and extend into the ear canal. Sound is conducted into the ear through the receiver in the ear canal.
ITC:
In-the-canal (ITC) hearing aids are best suited for hearing loss cases ranging from a mild to moderate hearing loss. ITC hearing aid components are typically contained in an acrylic shell that fits into the opening of the ear canal and/or within it.
CIC:
Completely-in-the-canal (CIC) hearing aids are best suited for hearing loss cases ranging from a mild to moderate hearing loss. CIC hearing aid components are typically contained in an acrylic shell that fits completely within the canal and is slightly recessed. |
